Benjamin Preschool Senec Owl Class To celebrate the World Water Day we did a sink and float science experiment to discover what objects float and sink, and why they do so, during a hands-on activity. This play-based learning activity combined a science activity and a water activity to teach toddlers and preschoolers about density and buoyancy. It allowed children to think scientifically about cause and effect, observe and compare, and of course reason and evaluate why certain objects sunk and others floated. Our 3-4 year old little scientists even recorded their observations and findings! Disney Magic Class Disney Magic Class this month discovered the magic of the written stories through the famous fairy tales such as The Three little pigs, The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The little Red Riding Hood. Stories have shown us good and bad characters, different types of the buildings the main characters lived in, we have talked about reality and fiction and story structure, learnt how to start a story and how to end it up. We tried to become actors using masks and also see how the Shadow theater works with puppets. Our vocabulary grew and our communication skills improved. We made our own Class book , chapter one for now. Kindergarten Class An art project begins with a creative spark and allows children to bring their imagination to life, whilst simultaneously strengthening their logical thinking skills. Continuing with our exploration of famous artists and their artwork, we spent our Art lessons in March learning about the renowned Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. Whilst discussing his biography the children found it particularly inspiring to learn that despite facing a lot of rejection early in his career, Van Gogh never gave up. His passion and love for painting allowed him to persevere. The painting we chose to focus on was Almond Blossoms. Recreating it entailed the use of multiple steps & techniques: creating color tints, using brush strokes, sponge stamping, fingerprinting, corrugated cardboard printing and more. The children worked on memory & self-discipline in a natural and organic manner. They couldn t just jump into any approach, color, or technique they felt like, if they wanted their finished painting to bear resemblance to the original. This project also served as an important reminder that Art is a universal language that acts as a gateway to cultural awareness. Benjamin Preschool Pezinok Ms. Jojka s Class This month we focused on the topic of transportation. One of the children s favorite activities was counting train cars. First, we counted the trains of wagons using Montessori sticks, and then we stamped them and counted them on paper. They look beautiful, what do you think? Ms. Dani s Class Our five senses connect us with the world and with ourselves. The book I hear a pickle by Rachel Isadora is a great resource to explore the senses with younger children. Depicting familiar sounds, smells, objects and foods, the author makes each sense relatable and establishes the connection between a sense and the feelings and associations it evokes. Ms. Suzy s Kindergarten Class We love Science as well as Art! Milk food coloring and dish soap experiment showed us beautiful colors explosion. How to do it? Prepare a dish with milk, add food color. Dip a cotton bud into the liquid dish soap and press it into the colored milk. The milk started to move away from the bud and the colors start swirling. That inspired us for another activity. Wet paper, pipettes, colors was all we needed for creating beautiful abstract art and for observing how the paints dissolved and mixed on the paper.
