Pre niekoho deň úplne bežný, pre niekoho výnimočný, pre Slovenskú plavbu a prístavy najsmutnejší. Znie to takmer neuveriteľne, že od havárie nášho remorkéra TR Ďumbier uplynulo už 25 rokov. Táto najväčšia tragédia v histórii nášho plavebného podniku, nezavinená našou posádkou, si vyžiadala osem ľudských životov. Je skutočne hrozné pomyslieť na to, akou strašnou smrťou zahynuli naši ôsmi spolupracovníci, keď dňa 22. októbra 1996 vo večerných hodinách bola loď strhnutá divokým dunajským tokom pri extrémne vysokom vodostave do haťových objektov rozostavaného vodného diela Freudenau. Kapitáni Dušan Miček a Zdenko Dubský, loďmajster kadet Milan Labát a Ivan Bedeč, I. strojník Anton Pučkovica, strojník Róbert Boroš, strojný asistent Martin Temniak a kormidelník Jozef Novoveský sa stali obeťami tragédie, na ktorú sa nedá zabudnúť. Vodná doprava disponovala a stále disponuje najcennejším kapitálom plavebnými odborníkmi, ktorých nie je možné získať ani za rok, ani za dva, ich špecializácia dozrieva v priebehu dlhých rokov vo veľmi náročných podmienkach. Ani po dvadsiatich piatich rokoch nevybledne spomienka na našich spolupracovníkov, ktorým sa Dunaj a práca na lodiach stali životnou láskou a ktorí svojmu povolaniu a poslaniu priniesli najvyššiu daň. Nečakane spustili kotvu, ktorá sa už nedá vytiahnuť. Na pamiatku a výročie tejto tragédie sme dnes v hlbokej úcte uskutočnili pietny akt spustenie venca na Dunaj, ktorým sme poslali odkaz do vĺn Dunaja, že na nich nezabúdame a navždy si ich zachováme v našich mysliach a srdciach.
